SUMMER INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

South Shore law office seeking second or third year law student with interests in family and juvenile law, criminal or bankruptcy.  Strong research and writing skills, self motivated, rule 3:03 is a plus but not required.  20 hours per week, flexible schedule.

For the third time in four years, our Thurgood Marshall Advocacy Team competed in the TMMT national finals after winning third place at BLSA’s Northeast Regional Trial Advocacy competition in New York, our American Association for Justice Advocacy Team won the New England Regional Trial Advocacy championship and went to the national finals in New Orleans and our American Constitutional Society team member Paul Stewart was chosen as the best oral advocate at the ACS Appellate competition in San Francisco.

SUMMER 2010 LEGAL INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

The Disability Policy Consortium (DPC) is a non-profit, nonpartisan, public interest organization devoted to promoting inclusion, independence, and empowerment by guiding statewide development of policies that ensure that programs and services enable people with disabilities to participate in the political, economic, and social mainstream of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The DPC is the only statewide cross-disability advocacy organization that actively engages with lawmakers and policymakers.

Position Description: Full-time summer position (part-time may be considered). Duties include extensive research, writing, interviewing, preparing affidavits, and fact investigation for health access case. Other duties may include policy research and legislation drafting.

Qualifications: Second and third year law students with a demonstrated commitment to public interest law and/or public policy. A law student with a disability is preferred. Applicants selected will be self-starters, able to work independently and know when to seek assistance. Strong research and analytic skills are required and a strong knowledge of disability law and policy is preferred. Applicants must also have a complete understanding on public policy and the legislative process.

Internships are unpaid: However, the DPC encourages students to seek outside funding. Application Procedure: Individuals interested in applying for the legal internship should send a cover letter describing their interest and in disability law and/or public policy, a resume, the names and contact information of two references, and a legal writing sample by email to rpowell@dpcma.org. INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Small but very varied civil practice including bankruptcy, estate planning, real estate and all different kinds of litigation in Waltham. We are always interested in vigorous and curious interns who really want to learn how the practice of law really works. SUMMER CLERK

Squillace & Associates, PC is a boutique life, legacy, and estate planning law firm located at Commonwealth Ave. and Dartmouth St. in the historic Ames-Webster Mansion of Boston’s Back Bay. We are seeking a 1L or 2L summer law clerk to assist the firm in providing values-based estate planning and business law services to our clients.

The firm’s principal services include comprehensive estate planning with the preparation of ancillary documents, probate and trust administration, asset protection, charitable and philanthropic giving, planning for the LGBT community, special needs planning, and business succession planning.

Although this is an unpaid position, our summer clerk can expect a high degree of client interaction, a great work environment, the opportunity to gain a wealth of knowledge about comprehensive estate planning practice, and a great recommendation. Additionally, for the right person, this opportunity certainly has the potential to become a part-time, paid position during the academic year.

Rent includes all utilities and full run of the house (kitchen, family room, dining room) some storage space is available in the attic or basement and its living space and your own private room, furnishings not included. Room is 12x15 with 6 foot built in closet. Depending on Traffic the commute to school is between 20-30 minutes (less than 10 miles). Off street parking and we're on a cul-du-sac so it is a quiet neighborhood.

If you have signed up to be a member of BLSA or the Diversity Alliance, and you plan on subscribing to the PMBR Bar review course, you are entitled to a $100 discount on the subscription price.

Please submit your name and e-mail address on a sheet of paper to the BLSA or Diversity Alliance mail box located under the television in the cafeteria. We will be submitting the names of the chapter members to PMBR on Friday April 18.
